Berkshire is bounded by Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire to the
north, by Wiltshire to the west, by Hampshire to the south, and by Surrey
to the south-east.
Berkshire, with principal towns of Reading, Slough, Maidenhead, Newbury,
Bracknell, Wokingham and Windsor. Windsor Castle is the most noted
building in the county. A short drive along the east-west M4 takes you to
London or Bristol or the north-south A34 takes you to the midlands or the
south coat.
Towns & Villages
Berkshire has many idyllic villages and towns to explore. Some of the
places to enjoy:
Windsor - a historical must but don't forget a trip to Legoland.
Bray - enjoy the superb pubs and restaurants in this old village.
Maidenhead - a visit to Boulter's Lock on the River Thames is a
must.
Bracknell - a modern town, currently home of the Met' Office.
Ascot - not just a place to visit for the racing.
Reading - a bustling town with an excellent shopping centre.
Pangbourne - situated close to Reading and by the banks of the
River Thames, is a delightful village.
Newbury - an old market town and home to Vodafone
Hungerford - is renowned for its many antique shops and dedicated
antiques arcade - certainly worth an afternoon's stroll around the town.
