2010 homes in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight were evacuated
as flood waters rose after a period of heavy rainfall.
In Emsworth about 40 homes were flooded
and half of theses had to be evacuated as the flood water
continued to rise.
Home owners in Emsworth that were
forced to flee their homes took shelter in the Emsworth
Community Centre.
On the Isle of Wight another 10 homes
were flooded and, some roads were closed off by flood water
and some schools were shut.
Further flooding took place in Denmead and Hayling
Island in Hampshire.
In Ryde On the Isle of Wight, Monktonmead Brook burst its banks.

There are a reported 300,000 home owners
