Flood map - enter your postcode to check if your property is at risk

Click here for a home insurance quote from a company that uses aerial survey data (not just post codes) to insure homes near to flood areas. If a proposal is received for a property that indicates a flood risk postcode area, it is referred to the insurers underwriters, who can then access the data before making a decision.

Today, the 5th October 2004, the Daily Express reported on the release of a "secret" flood map that is said to detail those areas of the country that are at risk of flooding.

Such a flood map has been available for some time on the Environment Agency web site.

Maybe their flood map it isn't as detailed - we shall have to wait and see.
